Not too Cool

Minivans are anathema to one’s cool image. If you drive a minivan, well get ready for a ton of soccer mom cracks. It seems though that guys are more sensitive to the minivan stereotype than woman. After all, I can count on one hand how many men I’ve seen behind the wheel of a minivan. Why is it that minivans are viewed as uncool?

I found an interesting article on MSN today, written by a man no less, that speaks about the perks of driving a minivan and how wrong he was in his judgement:

I used to be just like you—way too cool to drive a minivan. My Dad drove one for business when I was in my mid-20s, and I made all the “soccer mom” and “driving 40 mph in the left lane” jokes. The minivan was sad, it was pathetic, and worst of all it was boring. But then it became something else after my kids were born: a life saver.

Just like most up-and-coming young professionals, I blew through my 20s worrying about what was cool. What you wore, what you drove, where you worked; it all mattered—a lot. At that age, I suppose, some of it is insecurity and the rest is just trying to understand who the hell you are.

Then I got married. She was beautiful and much more hip, cool and together than I was. At that point I could have never imagined her in a minivan. A convertible BMW? Sure. A minivan? No way.

After my daughter was born, life got more difficult in the blink of an eye. We dealt with everything new parents do—no time, no sleep, no money, and carrying an obscene amount of stuff whenever we went anywhere. My priorities changed from worrying about image to worrying about ways to make our lives easier.

Then I borrowed my Dad’s minivan for a weekend trip.

Let the Count Down Begin

Published by Joana under Crime

It’s been awhile since I saw anything “news worthy” to blog about here, but this one takes the cake ladies and gentlemen:

“I think I was in shock, disbelief. I just didn’t know what I was doing. That baby was dead. I didn’t want to deal with that. There was too much sorrow. It hurt, it hurt,” she said, tearing up. “When I look back at it, it does kind of look like I was guilty, doesn’t it?” (source)

You think it makes you look guilty? You think that crushing a baby’s skull and then wrapping him in his own blanket, shoving him in an empty Bartles’ and James box and burying him makes you look guilty? What the hell was your first clue lady! It doesn’t make you look guilty, you are guilty. Period. And in three weeks you’ll be getting exactly what you deserve.

In less than three weeks time the state of Texas will commence the execution of the murderess Cathy Lynn Henderson. She will be the 12th woman to be executed since 1977 when the death penalty was reinstated in the US.

Crybaby Gets it Even Easier

Now this is just absolutely pathetic and completely undermines the entire justice system:

Hilton’s Jail Term Cut to About 23 Days
May 16, 9:06 PM EST

Paris Hilton will serve about half of her 45-day jail sentence and will be separated from the general inmate population, authorities said Wednesday.

The hotel heiress will spend about 23 days in a “special needs housing unit” at the Century Regional Detention Center in suburban Lynwood, Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Her sentence was shortened after jail officials gave her credit for good behavior, Whitmore said. Officials considered several factors in calculating the credit, including that she appeared for her latest court date, he said.

Hilton will stay in a unit that contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates, he said.

Like everyone else in the 2,200-inmate facility, Hilton will get at least an hour outside her cell each day to shower, watch television, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, he said.

The 26-year-old socialite was sentenced to jail this month for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to jail by June 5.

A call to her lawyer, DUI specialist Richard Hutton, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Elliot Mintz, declined to comment.

(source)

This bimbo had the gall to call her light sentence cruel and unusual then bombard Gov. Schwarzenegger’s office until he made the official statement that he had better things to do, and yet they decided to reward her with this baloney? What an utter disgrace and farce.

Inmates of the jail Hilton will be sent to, I implore you, help her to wake up and see the world around her. She needs it and apparently the CJS won’t do it and her parents already passed the buck on that job.

What Are Some Ways You Earn Money?

Published by Joana under Business

Just what the title says. What are some of the ways you earn money online? How successful are you in these endeavors and would you recommend them? If you have proof of their payment and would willingly back these programs then I invite you to share with me your stories and experiences with them.

Is there a company that took you for a run? Tell us about it as well, I want to hear it and I’m sure others would too. Currently I have a Money Making page on this blog that shows good sites and proof of payment and according to the statistics others like seeing this sort of thing. So I want to create something similar right here with this post but on a larger scale.

It doesn’t matter if you’re making money in an attempt to become the next George Lindemann Jr. or just to make some spare cash, feel free to post your thoughts and experiences in the comments as well as your referral links so that myself and others can click them!

Well Why Not?

Published by Joana under Entertainment

After browsing the online listings for a movie to watch at the theater and becoming utterly disappointed with the selection I can’t help but wonder what Hollywood is thinking. Assuming of course that they are thinking at all. There are some very silly movie premises out there, I mean really at the rate they’re going we might soon have romantic comedy revolving around two real estate marketers working for rival agencies and the difficulty of real estate marketing in a drying up field.

Actually in all honesty a movie like that would be more interesting than some of the stuff currently showing in theaters. At least with the real estate agents you have the chance for not only slapstick humor, but some funny pranks and hijinks as they try to out maneuver one another. The only thing funnier would be feuding lawyers.

For now it looks like I’ll just be waiting for May 25th to roll around.
